UX Design is becoming more and more relevant in our modern world to have someone look after the experience of end-users in your software or website. But what is UX Design? And why is it so important?
What is UX Design?
As I’ve introduced, UX stands for user experience. User experience (UX) design’s key objective is to let a website fit seamlessly with the expectations and wishes of the end-users. This means that a UX Designer does research towards the end-user to find out what their goals and expectations are. Questions that are asked by UX Designers are;
- Is this website valuable to our clients? How so?
- Does our website deliver information efficiently towards our clients, can they find what they are looking for?
- Are users achieving their goals? Also, are users achieving their goals in a way that is pleasant for them?
- Are we delivering information in a way that meets their expectation?
You want users to perform certain actions and achieve certain goals on your website. It is therefore important that the functionalities of your website and the emotions of the visitor come together.

What does an UX Designer do?
The task of a UX Designer is to understand the end-users of a product or business completely. An UX Designer needs to be able to create empathy for the end-user.
Before we dig any deeper, let’s try to understand this principle; ‘Empathy‘.
Empathy is the ability to understand and empathize with the feelings of another. It’s about being aware of what other people are going through and sharing their feelings. It acts as a connection between you and another individual. Empathy is what you mean when you say “placing yourself in someone else’s shoes.”
A UX designer is a professional that specializes in creating beneficial user experiences. Research plays an important role in this since lasting improvements can only be made by putting yourself in the shoes of consumers and thus creating a sense of empathy for them.
UX design isn’t just for websites and apps; it can also be used to improve the design of (offline) products, services, and even customer care.
